There is a lot of devices involved. I have a total of 4 PC's running off my router and i have 2 seagate 5TB Hard drives connected to my AC68r. I know on windows I can simply share a folder by right clicking on it and choosing who i want to share it with. It will then (the PC i shared the file from) appear on my aiclouds website as a samba share. Is there any guides as to how to share samba files via linux? If anyone knows of any particular distro of linux that is does work on feel free to say because i will install it.
Also does anyone know how to share FTP files from windows or linux? Using my router as a FTP server works but once i start copying files over the CPU on my router shoots to 100% which seems to only allow one device to connect at a time which is more than annoying. I figure I have enough PC's (actually have 7 total although 3 rarely get used) that I may as well learn how to samba and FTP share from a desktop seeing as how the main problem seems to be the CPU on my router.
I think what I am mainly asking is how do i setup my own home NAS? I am a little lost on this kind of stuff. I just really want something that i can file share from multiple computers at the same time while still having the ability to mount FTP shares on my desktop like you can via the routers FTP server.
Thankyou to whoever replies/helps as I know i am asking a lot here
