Slow Wireless Speed on Android Phone

New Around Here
This has been bugging me since I obtained what I thought was one of the best routers on the market. Slow slow wireless speed on my Samsung Note 2 phone.

Ive ran some comparison tests with the following results:
PC Wired: 65mbps down / 15mbps up
Link Speed located in wireless settings on phone: ranges from 5 to 72mbps
Phone on Verizon 4g: 15 to 20mbps down / 10mbps up
Phone on wireless 2.4ghz: 5mbps down / 10mbps up

I have my Asus n66u with the following settings:
Frequency - 2.4ghz
Wireless Mode - Auto
Channel bandwidth - 20mhz
Control Channel - 4 (have tried different channels, same results)
Authentication Method - WPA2-Personal
WPA Encryption - AES
Firmware:3.0.0.4.374.33 (Merlin build)

What do you recommend as this is driving me nuts. Thx

Take a look at other threads, just in the last week a couple people have extensively tested this.

AFAIK most mobile devices only do one stream on either band, and tend to do better on 5ghz if they support it (and distance allows for it).

Long story short, your results are the same as everyone else, and mobile devices have such tiny antennas they can be very sensitive to conditions and distance that laptops and other can do fine with.

It's also a very difficult tool to try to use WAN speed tests to test your true WLAN speeds. They are a hint in the right direction but by no means definitive.

Thx PJ, very disappointing to hear. I was hoping it was a setting I had setup incorrectly. I just received my new Samsung Note 3 tonight, unfortunately same results as the Note 2. Surfing is fine, downloading files from app store is painfully slow.
