If you're restoring backup config files, you're not doing a full reset.

I only restore config file, not the jffs backup.
But I still have files that are on this archive.

How a 85kio file can restore a 40Mio file?

Well @ColinTaylor command line.

If I understand correctly what it did, it "forced wipes" partition blocks with dd and /dev/zero. I guess it's what should have been done with hard reset but didn't.
I won't publish all commands as it may lead to router's bricking if applied incorrectly.

If there is no "format jffs on next boot" option in WebUI, you can format it in a more safe way.
Look on:

admin@RT-AX58U:/tmp/home/root# nvram show |grep jffs
diag_db_path_old=/jffs/.sys/diag_db/conn_diag_1672617600.db
jffs2_auto_erase=0
jffs2_format=0
jffs2_on=1
jffs2_scripts=1
jffs2_size=49283072
jffs2_state=3
log_path=/jffs

And then:

#nvram set jffs2_format=1
#nvram set ffs2_scripts=0
#nvram commit
#reboot

It worked for me for RT-AX58U
