SSID for second AP?

I'm in the process of adding another AP on the 1st floor of my home. I have dual 2.4 and 5 Ghz Asus 68R router in the 2nd floor office and it give good coverage on the upper floor. However on the 1st floor where most of the family connects I am getting 162 Mbps Index of 13.

I understand about using a different wifi channel on the 2nd AP on the 1st floor but should it be the same SSID? With a stronger whiff signal on a different channel, will the devices switch over to the stronger signal automatically?

Auto-switch to "best" signal - some client devices do, some don't, some are unpredictable. Most/many choose an access device (AP or WiFi router) and stay with it until connectivity is lost. This inspires the device to scan to find a new access device for which it has the encryption key.

Same SSID is OK. Some people choose to use SSIDs that are worded to imply its location in the home. That way, a user making manual selections can know what is being chosen.

Be sure to put the AP on a channel at least 3 away from the WiFi router, for 2.4GHz. In that band, channels 1, 6 and 11 are the only no-overlapping channels.

Thanks. And 5Ghz separation was well.
