Storage Spaces in Windows 10

This may be a daft question, but does adding drive(s) to a pool require a format? My assumption is yes.

Have you tried going to Computer Management and looking at Disk management? It should show the low level drive stuff unless you are running hardware RAID?

Thanks! Forgot I posted this - found the answer by simply trying and it does need to wipe the drive as I suspect. Juggling content now to various backup locations!
