Trying to decide on which to buy the QNAP TS-239 or the TS439.
Differences List:
  • Number of HDD (2 vs. 4)
  • USB Ports (3 vs. 5)
  • LCD Display and setup (439 only)
  • RAID Config. (Single Disk-RAID 1 vs. Single Disk-RAID 6)
  • Cameras (2 vs. 4)
  • Number of Users, Groups, and Shares (2048, 256, 256 vs. 4096, 512, 512)

Processor, NICs, and software are the exact same.

SO.....

Which would you buy knowing you would eventually (within 2 years) need the space offered with the 439.

Do you get the 439 now or add another 239 later when needed.

Theoretically, would dual 239's be faster than one 439?

OR...

Does the redundancy options of the 439 win out?

Using two of the same NAS will be faster than using one, if they are being used with two different clients.

In two years, there will probably be faster NASes available.

There is no "right" answer to your question.

Don't forget backup in your storage planning. RAID is not a substitute for backup.

You're right there is no "right" answer.

Because I'm always in the mood for an upgrade, I think the TS239 wins.

Thanks for the reply.
