T-mobile LINKPORT IK511 & RT-AX88U Pro Merlin Router

Recently purchased a T-mobile LINKPORT IK511 (given their $10/month MI30TI plan).

My intention was to plug it into my RT-AX88U Pro, enable dual WAN, and use it as a fallback for when/if my wired fiber internet ever goes down.

Without messing with any settings, I went ahead and plugged it into the USB port. It was immediately recognized (see screenshot). I then went to the USB modem settings and also didn't change anything (screenshot).

I manually configured my dual WAN settings to look like the screenshot below.

When I pull the plug on my wired fiber internet, the Backup Wireless Modem goes from "Cold-Standby" to "disconnected". It cannot get a WAN address from the T-mobile modem.

The LINKPORT IK511 does have a GUI where you can enable IP Passthrough as an option. After trying that, same result. I cannot seem to get a WAN address from that modem. I found a reddit post with someone who claimed it worked:

I guess I am trying to determine if what I am doing is doable... or if this is a pipe dream. Anyone else try this with a USB modem?

Not sure if you still need this, but was working on this same puzzle yesterday.. was able to get it working by changing the APN Configuration from "Auto" to "Manual" and plugging in the same info from the Mobile Network screen on the LinkPort Admin (you'll need to connect to it from a PC or Laptop to get this info). See pic..
