"The wifi interface has reached its maximum" and "For older AiMesh nodes, there are limitations on syncing all bands"

Hi,

I thought I had this sorted out, but I am now confused why I am not seeing clients attaching themselves to (specifically) the AiMesh nodes via the 5GHz Wifi band. Unfortunately I am 9500kms away, so was wondering if there was some SSH command I could issue to check what was available on each node; or failing that some other way to check apart from seeing a 5GHz connection in the Client Map or System Log?

IIRC it should be both bands on the primary router plus one GN per band, which IIRC is at least what the old Guest Network gave you even oif you had 3004-based Nodes? But I am not seeing any clients connecting to the nodes on 5GHz (2.4Ghz seems OK). I have limited the IoT GN to 2.4Ghz (in the GNP menu), so I would have thought the Guest GN would allow at least the 5GHz, if not both.

Would anyone be able to confirm from my GNP setup and these two (still) rather obscure messages, whether I SHOULD be able to get 5GHz on nodes or not? I know if I had Nodes cabable of 3006 or on the 'magic' ASUS approved VLAN Capable Router list it would be easier, but I am strugglng to interpret what the messages mean as it SUGGESTs that the Guest network (on VLAN 52) should work on both 5Ghz and 2.4GHz and NOT just on the primary but also on the Nodes? Note that my IoTNetwork is on the primary subnet (due to hard coded IP addreses in Shelly scripts).

System: RT_AX86U Pro Main on 3006.102.5, 2 x XD6 and one RT-AX58U Nodes, nodes all on 3004.388.xxx

Relevant prior threads (@visortgw and @Seth Harman and @bennor was all over this earlier).

Thanks!

Ok, so now it gets more confusing.

I looked in System Log, Wireless Log and there are 3 devices rattling along at 5GHz.
None of these show in any of the lists of connected devices i.e. not in:

(a) The Network Map, View List, CLient List; or
(b) Any of the AiMesh, (Select) Node, Client List, Wireless (or any)
(c) Guest Network Pro, Select VLAN 52 (Guest Network), Clients List.

It is like they don't "offically" exist.
I do have all the Primary Devices and the IoT Devices (same subnet 47, different SSID to Primary) in DHCP Reservations, but I do not keep Guest stuff.

The annoying part is that absent details of the AiMesh node that they MAY be attached to, it could be they are simply getting a connection off the PRIMARY Router, so I still don't know if it is working or not.

[EDIT] Could it be related to a DHCP naming query I put out there a couple of years ago?

[EDIT] It seems they are all connected to the Primary Router, if BSSID is the correct way to identify this?

But looking at a recent thread where I did some checking into what was displayed in the System Log/Wireless Log for Primary and Guest Networks, IIRC only Primary is reported in this log and Guest Networks are not if they are attached to NODEs, only to the Primary Router. This was an AI generated theory so is very much TBC!!

But if correct, does this mean the Nodes COULD be allowing Devices to connect to VLAN52, just not able to report it and the log defaults to "reporting" it using the next best thing i.e the Primary List? Just tilting at windmills here... @dave14305 where are you when we need you :-) ...
