A clue as to how Asus may leverage WiFi 6e for an AiMesh dedicated wireless backhaul:

Newegg USA sells a "desktop kit" for it. Imported from China, but still seemed reasonably priced for anyone in a hurry to get a wifi adapter without any router supporting it yet

With WiFi-6E, it's still very early, and with the 6E extensions, there's the requirement for infrastructure to support it, which presently doesn't exist in any meaningful way.
