Ubuntu/bittorrent killing router.

Ive had this router for about a year, periodically upgrading with Shibby's Tomato. During that time I ran windows XP on an old machine, and used it to torrent 24/7 without any issues.

Recently I placed Ubuntu Server on the machine and it doesn't matter if Im using Deluge/Transmission/qBittorrent after a given period of time (could be 12 hours could be 48) the internet will die for all electronics in the house until I reboot the router. The only thing I can see that is happening is that RAM on the router is constantly decreasing.

I, as far as I can tell, am not doing any monitoring or running any services besides basic DHCP, so I dont think it's log files or anything like that that could be causing the issue. Is there any suggestions of where I could start to fix this? Thank you.

Hi,

I am running for years Transmission on my main router (differenet model) but never had this kind of problems.
Also my current Asus RT-N66U is runnin like a charm with Transmission on it (using Entware and Transmission from there - No Asus Download Manager).

The only problem could really be RAM: Do you have a usb HD drive attached to the router?
Then you should go for swap partion on the hard disk.

I have swap enabled and it shows that it is used:
Code:
             [B]total used free[/B] shared buffers
Mem: 239844 172956 66888 0 9744
-/+ buffers: 163212 76632
[B]Swap: 64252 2188 62064[/B]
With kind regards
Joe

thanks for the info. I reflashed shibby's 108 FW and cleared vram this time. So far after 12 hours uptime and 1 hour of qbittorrent running, the ram is still 95%. if this holds up everything should be fine, although im not sure what setting was causing the the memory usage before, but if not ill definitely try setting up a swap file.
