Unable to downgrade from 376.49_5

Hi I am running 376.46_5 but i have tried to downgrade to Version 3.0.0.4.378.3873 but every time I do it , it still sticks with the 376.49_5. is there something I am missing in the process?

Seems that is an upgrade, not a downgrade. Could be that it needs to update the bootloader first. See if a previous versions changelog mentions that and flash to that firmware first, then to .3873.

Anything on the RT-AC68U that has a version of 378_xxxx requires you to have an up-to-date bootloader and a currently flashed firmware with 64 MB rootfs support. To do so, either flash the 376.49_6_cfeupd test build from the Misc folder on Mediafire, or flash Asus's 376_3626. After that you can flash a 378_xxxx build.
