Unstable wireless/wired connection - system log show "Expired NAT-PMP mapping"

My RT-66NU is running firmware 3.0.0.4.374_720. Recently, I see unstable network connection from any of my devices (Windows, iOS, Android, Mac), whether they are connected via wireless or wired.

Looking at the system log, I see the following:

miniupnpd[413]: Expired NAT-PMP mapping port 37370 TCP removed
miniupnpd[413]: Expired NAT-PMP mapping port 37371 UDP removed

There are literally hundreds of these, followed by this once in a while:

miniupnpd[413]: unsupported NAT-PMP version : 2

When this happened, the unstable network connection happened. I had to reboot my router to fix it.

It always started with this:

miniupnpd[400]: received signal 15, good-bye
miniupnpd[413]: HTTP listening on port 50262
miniupnpd[413]: Listening for NAT-PMP traffic on port 5351

Unfortunately, there is no IP address, so I couldn't find out what caused it. I don't run a media center.

Can anyone help?

You have UPnP enabled (which is by default, Advanced Settings>WAN), did you leave that on on purpose?
For most users it can be disabled, which is also advised as security measure.
The other thing I recommend is to upgrade to the latest firmware version (3.0.0.4.376.1071) which fixes many bugs and has important security fixes.

Err... to be honest, I thought I disable it but I just checked it and it is not. I just disable it.

Thanks for the tip on the firmware, I'll upgrade it and will update.

On the issue I have, it's just really bizarre. Devices connected. If on wireless, full signal shown (iOS, OSX, Windows, Android), but no network connection whatsoever.

First update the router to the latest firmware, I also suggest to revert to factory defaults and manually configure the router again (do NOT load a configuration backup file).
Then check if any of your issues still exist.

Yep, just upgraded to the latest firmware. I also reset to factory defaults and re-configure everything from scratch.

Will let you know if I see more of this error.
