Here is my Aimesh setup:
Main router: AC3100 running Merlin 386.3_2
Node: AC68U running AsusWrt stock 3.0.0.4.386_43129
I'm looking to upgrade the AC3100 to Merlin 386.4 and also the Asuswrt stock AC68U to the current version 3.0.0.4.386_46065
What should i do first, main router or node ?
I saw that Merlin 386.4 is based on GPL 386_45958. Should i used a previous version for the node to be more in sync with the Merlin router?
Thx

Should not matter.

I upgraded my ax88u with an ac68u in ethernet backhaul to merlin 386.4 but had to rebuild the ax88u after an issue. Now I cannot get above 42% trying to add my ac68u back to aimesh. Rebooting has no effect.

Its got me stumped.

Have you tried adding it while it is connected to the main router via Ethernet?

I think your problem is more related to the "issue"? you had with the ax88u than a firmware version discrepancy between your main and your node.

Indeed I have, directly plugging into the router.

Upgraded node (AC68U) to stock 386_46065 earlier today from 386_45987; router (AC86U) has been on asuswrt-merlin 386.4 since that was released. Node has been up for ~8 hours now, all running as expected without issue.

Thanks pinkrae, i will give a shot soon. Upgrade Merlin main router first and the stock node after. If you have any problem with this setup please post here

With 386.4 Merlin Main router, and 386.4 nodes (AX86 and AC88) initial set up searching for nodes failed (first time aimesh using). Went back to latest stock for the nodes (386_46061 for RT-AX88U, 386_40947 for RT-AC88U), Merlin main router immediately spotted the nodes. I added both and than switched nodes to latest Merlin. Working fine now for couple of hours.

Same here. The version of the FW definitely plays the role. Merlin 386.5_2 was able to discover and add the node only thru the wire. The stock 386.46061 was able to discover but not to add the node via WiFi (added Ok thru the wire).
