UPNP Broken?

Hey,

So, recently I have been having these syslog errors;

Code:
Jan 19 16:01:56 miniupnpd[676]: ioctl(s, SIOCGIFADDR, ...): Cannot assign requested address
Jan 19 16:01:56 miniupnpd[676]: Failed to get IP for interface eth0
Jan 19 16:01:56 miniupnpd[676]: SendNATPMPPublicAddressChangeNotification: cannot get public IP address, stopping

I am with Sky Fibre, which is connected and working with an AC3200, all that MAC address OPTION 61 rubbish is fine, then in the latest build for it 380.69 I had that same error with IPV6 errors, which is native on my line, and websites would break or a laptop/desktop couldn't get an local IP to access the network / WAN.

So, I decided to go back to 380.68_4 and IPV6 worked again, and yest I did a clearn NVRAM as such, it's that error with miniupnp that's all of sudden started popping up and will break the connection for 5 minutes and the only cure is either turn UPNP off or reboot the router. Could someone shed any light on this error or is it a hardware failure about to occur?

I am planning to go back to 380.69 and doing a complete NVRAM clear 30/30/30 and starting from scratch again.

That upnp error is usually a response to losing the WAN connection, not the cause. What is in the logs before and after the upnp entries?

Not sure... I've deleted them beforehand.. What I'll do I won't clear the logs and keep and eye on it, but if I disable UPNP completely it's fine, I only have it enabled for things like Xbox 360 etc, which runs fine too when enabled. It's only recently started to happen as of this week.

Do you have an ISP modem or router by any chance, just mac clone it and see if it helps.

I have a separate router and modem, the modem supplies the fibre. Because I have to use OPTION 61 I have got my original router/modem combo MAC in that field which grants me access using a custom router.

Since I flashed the AC3200 back to 380.69 and cleared the NVRAM via the GUI and mini webserver about 20 times and started fresh everything seems to be stable and had no UPNP errors as in my first post.

Your not on vdsl2 by any chance, from what I know of fiber here in Australia we use an NTD or network termination device.

That's the Aussie set-up, that acts like a glorified powered phone socket.
From that we just tether a router, I know my ISP is one of the companies where you have to Mac clone thier modem/router to get VoIP to register, you also have to get your VoIP settings from thier provided units configuration files.

I'm on vdsl2 ipoe with a bridged modem and router set up, have you tried the 384/382 build from Merlin see if the issue is still present in newer builds?
