SMART support over USB is very limited, because it depends on whether your external disk controller actually passes the SMART queries back to the disk. Since that would only work for a handful of devices, it would only confuse people to have something that rarely works.

You should still be able to install the Smarttools through Optware if you wish to try for your specific disk.
