Has anyone tried using the firmware restoration utility with a Merlin firmware? I don't have an actual need to do so, I just wanted to see if anyone had experience with it in case I ever need to use it. I'm on an AC87-U if that means anything.

The firmware you run has no impact on the restoration tool since that tool interfaces with the bootloader, not with the firmware.

Thank you, sir. Was just curious as the tool specifically requests a firmware to upload for the process. Wasn't sure what part of the file it was interested in.

I was thinking on using the tool to install Merlin for first time ever. I thought it would be a cleaner method, but it seems it makes no difference vs the regular way for what I read.
I have a brand new ASUS RT-BE96U with latest firmware and half the wireless/professional settings kept appearing and disappearing randomly. At some point I couldn't even see the 6ghz band. Refreshing the interface helps, sometimes. This never happened to me before, so I am giving a shot to Merlin and see what happens.
According to chat gpt when asked about this issue:
"Merlin fixes this by removing the dynamic hiding/UI scripts. Every configurable option is presented consistently, regardless of session or band. The firmware capabilities are identical; Merlin just stops the stock UI from playing hide-and-seek."
So no idea, hopefully it works well.
