VPN Client on Official FW - Route Specific MAC\IP

I setup a VPN client on the router and I understand that all connected devices connected to the router will go via the VPN

How can I setup so that only certain MAC or IP on my network connect to the VPN while others go straight through the internet.

Any way I can configure this?

Using:
Router: ASUS RT-AC87
Firmware: 3.0.0.4.380_7743 (Official)

You can't at least not with the official ASUS firmware. You need to move to Merlin firmware which include this feature. https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/

Ahh ok.
new to merlin firmware.
In a nutshell: is it safe? do people trust it?
sorry i bit security conscious when it comes to custom stuff.
