vpn/dns-hostnames

I have an issue which I don't know the best solution to.
I have setup a vpn tunnel to another location in my asus merlin router.
My problem is that I have to use ip-addresse for access the machines in the other location.

I would like to be able to use the machine names instead.
I would like the process to be automatic, so I don't have to input the machinename and ip anywhere.
Also a solution which supports multiple vpn tunnels would be nice.
