VPN - Secure communication using public wifi

I have VPN server (OpenVPN) enabled on my Asus RT-N66U router and installed Open VPN on my android phone.

My intention was to be abel to use free public wifi's and establish a VPN connecten to my home router and do the browsing as I "was at home".

This works almost fine. When using a pulic network an connecting my phone to my router using VPN I can see the IP address and location is changed to "my home". I can also use e.g. Messenger (text) over this VPN connection.

But, I when I try to use Messenger VoIP (phone call) it will not work. Messenger says "connected" but I only hear a weak "phone call sound".

The bandwidth after established the VPN connection is about 12Mbs.

Any ideas why Messenger phone calls are not working over this VPN connection?

Make sure you have respond to dns and advertise dns to clients.
You can also have a firewall issue with the phone and your messenger
if this doesn't work try firewall external only instead of auto
also what version of firmware are you using?
