If I use random and have a lowest ping value, the random one is often the same one with a high ping.

Yep, if you use 'random', then it doesn't care about the lowest ping/lowest load. It will literally pick a random connection, even if it's a higher ping/load... distance and speed be damned! In this case, it does still care about the high ping and load parameters that you have configured. So if this connection exceeds 150ms or 50% load, it will initiate another random reset.

Since that could cause a near-infinite loop. is it possible to exclude slots that exceed values in the random selection?

I can go 24hrs without a reset using these defaults:

- NordVPN SuperRandom -- random selection of 5 servers gave me 73ms, 39ms, 33ms, 35ms and 54ms. Load on my current server = 18%.
- Ping reset > 100ms
- Load reset > 50%

It's unlikely my connection will reset until it's scheduled to. What kinds of servers are you connecting to?

I'm connecting to US servers in NYC, Buffalo, Miami, and Dallas. I'm currently in Costa Rica. The Miami servers generally have the best ping times.

In situations where your servers are far away, ping will most likely be higher. In those cases, I would probably bump up your "ping reset" parameter from 100ms (default) to something higher, based on what you're seeing in the UI... maybe 150-175?

If you're using the "lowest ping reset option", there may be cases where there might be a chance for it to prefer other servers that are competing for a lower ping, then increase the chances from 5 (default), to perhaps 10... in order to give your connection a chance to redeem itself as the server with the lowest ping, and would then restart the counter before it drops/reconnects.

Looks like its “vpnmon-r2 -reset”



Making any kind of changes in wan, restarts all VPNs that have “Automatic start at boot time” enabled, don't know if it has to do with vpnmon

Wow, that's certainly a weird one... First off:

1.) Did you schedule a manual reset using the "vpnmon-r2 -reset' switch? And there's no logs from this?

2.) Could you please run these statements, and tell me what you see?

I'm not making any changes in the WAN settings - just reporting on what it sees... that's pretty much hard-coded on your router. I would highly recommend you do not have any of your VPN Client slots "automatically start at boot time", because that's just going to hose things up more.

This message could only appear if you executed the "vpnmon-r2 -reset" command... I have no other place where a log entry like that would originate from.

Do you have the "timeout" utility installed?

This is the first time I manually initiated the reset, in fact I had just found out that

.sh is not needed
