Trying to figure out an issue I've been having the past 4 days on my N66U. Started on Merlin latest xx.31 firmware. Then updated to the new Asus 374.257. Same problem... WAN drops. Odd thing is there is still an IP but no internet.

Here is my log showing the WAN drops and ISP not functioning.

I reset both the modem and router. Works for a few hours and repeat. So did my router take a dump?

The two lines that says "Ethernet link down" followed by "Ethernet link up" usually mean a problem with either the cable connecting the modem with the router, or with the modem itself. Make sure for instance that the cable between the modem and the router is rated Cat5e or better.

Also keep an eye on the modem itself. If it has a web interface, try to see if your modem actually rebooted at about the same time you saw the Ethernet link down/up events, as this is the most common reason for these.

Thanks merlin that fixed it! It was actually the next step I was going to try. I had moved my router last week and a few of the cables are too short. I stretched them to make work for the location. In doing so it pulled the wan cable (which isn't short) and made a bad connection.

BTW... all my Ethernet cables are cables 2 go Cat6a. Time to get some longer ones.
