WAN issues on GT-BE19000

SergSlim

New Around Here
Hello.

I've been getting weird issues with internet on my GT-BE19000 router.
Firmware Version: 3.0.0.6.102_39244

I have a 2,5 Gbit/s connection coming from ONU.

From time to time (usually once a day/couple of days) internet stops working on all devices.

In the router logs it always looks the same:
Mar 7 08:52:30 udhcpc_wan[7738]: hnd_get_phy_status: Temporarily Router cannot get the PHY() status...
Mar 7 08:52:30 wan: finish adding multi routes
Mar 7 08:52:31 miniupnpd[8463]: shutting down MiniUPnPd
Mar 7 06:52:31 wan_up: Restart DDNS
Mar 7 06:52:31 dhcp client: renew {my IP}/255.255.255.128 via {similar to my IP} for 600 seconds.
Mar 7 08:52:32 WAN Connection: WAN was restored.

Even though it says that WAN was restored - nothing works until I restart the router.

When Internet's not working, I tried:
C:\Users\user>tracert -4 8.8.8.8
Tracing route to dns.google [8.8.8.8]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 2 ms 2 ms 2 ms GT-BE19000 [local IP]
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 * * * Request timed out.

At the same time router says:
Internet status: Connected
WAN IP: {my IP}

ISP said that the issue might be in connection between ONU and router, or ports on either of the devices.
I use the cable that came with the router, which seems quite good.

Before writing to the ISP again, I want to make sure that it's not router's fault.

Is there anything I can check to verify what side is the issue on?

If it starts working again after restart of the router - it's most likely the router. Very similar issue was reported for different model ASUS router here. Try different firmware version and see of it helps.

First off, you need to update your firmware. The latest version is 3.0.0.6.102_40425. Your router is out of date. Asus has fixed several WAN issues in their updates.

You provided link to GT-BE19000AI, which is not the device that I have.
Current Version : 3.0.0.6.102_39244-gaaaf516_1521-g7ec76_BB0B
Manual firmware update : Upload
The latest version : The router's current firmware is the latest version.

The correct link for the OP's GT-BE19000 router is this one:
OP indicated they are using 3.0.0.6.102_39244 firmware, which is the latest Asus release firmware for their router model.

Which WAN, 10 Gb or 2.5 Gb? I suggest try the other one...

3.0.0.6.102_40425is for the GT-BE1900AI version.....the last firmware for the GT-BE19000 is the 3.0.0.6.102_39244 and it is already the last one

I had exactly the same thing on my tuf-be3600... Its most recent firmware upgrade from last week also failed to fix it, including a factory reset. In my post about the issue, my even bigger concern was that (IME) the router also dropped all the inbound firewall rules, thus allowing anything, thus allowing WAN SSH to the router even though it was set to "LAN only". So wifi was working, and the wan was working but it wasn't getting in between those two - it was great because while I couldn't use the internet, everyone on the internet could SSH to the router :)

I've replaced it with a rt-be86u yesterday, hopefully the problem doesn't come back.
