WAN Randomly Dropping

Asus rt-ac86u Merlin 384.4
My WAN connection often randomly dies and I have to power off and on the router. I cannot find anything that sticks out in the logs, and WAN light is fine.
I have tried disabling Diversion, custom DNS (back to automatic), disabling VPN servers, the last thing I can try is to just revert back to stock firmware.

Has anyone else encountered any issues like this or have any suggestions how to diagnose the issue?

I know there is a WAN down detection / reset script but it looks very complex to set up although I am still willing to give it a go if it may help.

Ideally the router would just reset the connection when detected down but anyway.

Is it version 384.4 or 384.14? I might've ran into this on 384.14_2 so I downgraded to 384.13 + clean install and didn't encounter this again.

sorry 384.14. I have tried disabling everything except the Merlin FW itself so I am now setting on the router just not reconnecting when the modem drops out which it does frequently. I just never noticed it before I got this router and installed Merlin which doesn't seem to automatically reconnect - which is another issue I intend to resolve eventually after looking at house wiring which I think causes it drop out every day or so (VDSL2).

For now the 384.15 beta is now includes the wan-event script which *may* help this issue so I will try that.
