Will flashing Merlin void the warranty? Just curious.

Use the forum search feature to find the various past posts from people who returned their routers with Asus merlin on it to Asus and they report Asus didn't appear to have an issue. For example:

I'm looking at returning it. It's a great router, but it takes up too much real estate.

no problem I had 2 replaced under warranty with Merlin FW on them

Magnusson-Moss warranty act protects the use of custom firmware unless that firmware is explicitly confirmed (by proof) to have caused the issue being warrantied for.

You could, if flashing with Merlin, install BACKUPMON, backup your config.
If concerned about the warranty, do a reset, optionally load ASUSWRT before returning it.
Then put Merlin on the replaced router and restore the config, reboot. Not that I'm suggesting you should, but you could

You can cite the act in a court of law in your given country in small claims, not that asus will even turn up.
