When testing NAS boxes

Gooberface

New Around Here
One thing puzzles me. Why is there never a comprehensive test of the different utilities/abilities the manufacturer claims is there ? All I see is PC to NAS connections and a look at the feature set. But never a test of the features themselves. The reason I ask for this is, I have 2 Synology NAS´ which I want to replicate eachother over the Internet. Well, replicating even over LAN is a struggle. One feature isn´t meant for large amounts of data or large amounts of files. Another slows to a crawl etc....
Now, I have 7 TB of data I want replicated, but so far Synology support has come up short. When I look at the internet, it seems to have been an issue since 2012 if not before.
It features they claim, and that goes for all manufacturers, are there, if it was put to the test, they might actually be held accountable in that regard. It seems everybody is only concerned with LAN speeds and the other features are just reapeated straight out of the manufacturers ads. Please, someone TEST the claims and hold Synology and others to it ....

Simply put, we can't devote the time to test even a small number of features of the products we review. And if we did, the features you want may not be the features we test, nor the way you want them tested.
