I guess it depends on what you do with the router. In my case I use my RT-N66U as a router for connection to Internet, both wired and wireless. Nothing else. For that .44 is running great. I had wireless issues with .43 where Hulu would slow down and when I would check speed to Internet I would be down to around 1 mb/s. A reboot would put things back to normal for about 1/2 hour then a reboot was needed again. Dropped back to .42 and things were find.
Have not had any issues with .44. I did do a full reset after the install of the firmware and new configuration, not from a backup file.
So .44 is running just fine for me on my N66U
