Why do I have duplicates in client list?

Hi, newbie question. I am running the latest firmware from RMerlin 3.0.0.4.372.31 and for me it rocks. I have 2 airport expresses that I use to stream music, one i called garage and the other family room for obvious reasons.

So when I go to my client status list I see family room, no big deal but I see 3 for garage?? all have the same mac address but a different IP? but sometimes when I refresh I get 3 for garage and 2 will have the same IP, I'm assuming this is showing up on both bands...but the third one has me stumped and it always shows up after a refresh?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This isn't causing any problems, I was just curious why this was showing up like that.

Thanks

Have you disabled the DHCP server on one of the APs?

Sorry I don't have any advice, but I'm seeing the same behavior on my RT-AC66U. I have this problem both with the stock F/W and Merlin's.

I suspect the issue may be that I have a second router in my network set up as a "wireless ethernet bridge" (DNS is off), and the ASUS gets confused when my device switches its wireless connection from one router to the other.

Right now my Mac mini appears twice in the list but with two different IP addresses - one of them is correct, the other is the second router.

They are not set up as APs, they are just set up to join my wireless network and they were both set up exactly the same except for the name.

Do you have a wireless bridge connected in your garage? The router will list wireless bridge clients with the same name as the bridge. For example, I have my Verizon Network Extender connected via a wireless bridge, and the router lists both the bridge and the bridge client as "wnce2000". To avoid this, I assigned the Network Extender a static IP that I could then give an appropriate name to. While I don't know if this what's going on at your place, took me a while to figure this one out *smile*.
