Wi-Fi Noise (SNR) concern

Unknownchamp

New Around Here
concern regarding noise.... I routinely see noise levels for my wifi signal around 20-28% mark, i live in an older home so i understand that its impossible to get no noise at all. and yes I understand that SNR is more important.... however as i post this message i am connected via wifi and sitting right next to my router with 100% signal strength however i am experiencing ~28% noise with a SNR level around 67 dB. Is it possible that i have an issue with the router rather than environmental or 3rd part interference. Seems really odd that i would have so much noise being this close to my router.....

Any feedback?

I'm measuring using Wifi Explorer on my rMBP 2012. I've tried to use inSSIDer (free version) on a windows system to see if the issue is repeatable. unfortunately it does not display noise. Does any know of any of 'freebie' WiFi scanners that would display noise on a windows platform?

And sorry i just noticed I did not indicate that I'm using an RT-N66U. I'm pretty clear on channels not much overlap and have following Merlins guide on this forum for config. I'm also using Merlins firmware latest release of this posting.

RSSI, SNR, bars and other "signal quality" stats reported vary in how they are calculated from device to device. They are useful only as relative indicators.

The bottom line is the throughput you get. If that's ok, don't worry about the other numbers.
