greetings!
I hope everyone had a great holiday experience.
I have noticed when I use asus or Merlin firmware that my WiFi signal will drop then my router will reboot. here is the funny part. I have tried dd-wrt and shibbly tomato firmware and I do not have the issue.I do not have extra setting on except WiFi security, router password, and the usb drives on. I do like the ad blocking on the dd-wrt and wish Merlin`s firmware had it as well as the ability to add commands through the command box; ( a very nifty feature). I do miss Merlin`s approach to simplicity because more is less.I would love to encrypt my router but want to figure out what my issue is.
I have reset the firmware to the latest asus default for the AC-RT68W. then tried Merlin`s latest firmware. I have tried different channels, auto, and broadcast MHz. I have not tried anything with signal boosting because I don`t want to destroy it not knowing what I am doing. I have a western digital my book 2 TB usb 3 drive and a 4 gig sandisk usb 2 drive. i would love to add extra security like encryption and ad blocking but I would like advice on what to do to resolve the issue. I have a 2 year warranted with amazon and I just got sent a t-mobile cell spot to arrive in a week.any suggestions?
