Please help. Is there an open source firmware that:
1. Allows WiFi eco standby mode?
as in JRS proprietary firmware
2. Low WiFi transmit power?
Thanks,
Kennybee

Welcome to the forums @Kennybee.

If there was, you'd be able to search for it.

Not showing up means not available.

Knowing what router model you have would help too. :)

Thanks L&LD.

Ascertaining best open source friendly WiFi routers.

Looking for open source firmware that avails WiFi radio transmit standby mode.

Many Euro WiFi routers offer this stock feature.

Your specific advice I greatly appreciate.

Thanks,
Ken

Openwrt has a WiFi schedule package that includes an option to unload the WiFi modules, although I’ve never used it so don’t know how well it works or how much power it would save.

The JRS Eco 100 Wifi router: 100% radiation-free in stand-by – JRS Eco Wireless.
Looking for more.
Yes you mentioned that device in your first post. I was asking what these "many" other routers are that have this as a "stock feature".

Some Tenda routers, although not European, have a sleep mode activated by WiFi requests inactivity and WiFi reactivated by wireless device summons via Tenda app thereon.

Trying to contact acquaintance in Europe.

So,

Generally, ASUSWRT vs ASUSWRT-Merlin?

Recent Asus WiFi routers work best with which open source firmwares?

If you want to customize WiFi radio beacon settings and transmit power, etc., you suggest what firmwares? What bang for the buck routers?

I think maybe someone/something affected 2 different Netgear routers (stock). One now hardly transmits internet yet signal strength remains. The other transmits slowly while signal strength remains. If I can sharply reduce WiFi radio strength, it seems harder for another to intrude.

All advice appreciated.

If they're building off AsusWRT, that's GPL, so they do need to share their changes and make their source available.

just saying...
