Wireless control channel setting reverts to auto after reboot!

I set the 5Ghz channel manually to 153 but after reboot the control channel setting reverts to auto, is this normal?

Not normal. You had 5GHz channel related issues before with your router.

RT-AC68U Missing 5GHz Channels

My Chromecast won't connect to Wi-Fi suddenly so checked channel as I remember it has issues with higher channels but I only see channels from 149 to 165. Please see results of commands below. I have set to NZ but GUI still shows Australia & I still can't see other channels after rebooting...

yeah lower channels showed up after changing to Asia as advised by @ColinTaylor. Is this issue related? Should I try Australia?

I have no experience with routers sold on the Asian market. Our versions here are region locked and there is no region settings in GUI. If some of the channels are missing or not working perhaps the region your router is set to doesn't allow this range. You have to read and experiment.
