I cannot recommend anyone buying either of these products. Of course, anyone who'd be interested in doing so would read up on the community impressions over at Netgear's own forums before doing so, but just in case..

I have a v1. Netgear's support is terrible. They take months to come out with firmware releases.

They renamed the WNDR3700v1 to WNDR37AV to make room for the WNDR3700v2, which apparently does not perform as well as the v1. Not much after the WNDR3700v2 started shipping, they announced the WNDR3800 and after that, the WNDR4000. The WNDR3700v1 / WNDR37AV is a dead product and the v2 does not look much better.

They have pretty good technology, but their support is what kills them. Had I known to expect this, I would not have purchased this product. Before, I was happily using a WRT54G with dd-wrt. I upgraded because I wanted gigabit ethernet and wireless-n. I wish there was a decent version of dd-wrt for the WNDR3700v1. That would be a good combination.
