ZyXEL's Multy X is a two-node "tri-band" (three radio) AC3000 wireless mesh network kit. The company claims up to 5,000 square feet of coverage thanks to its distributed design.

Multy X uses a design very similar to NETGEAR's original Orbi. The client-facing 2x2 radio supports maximum link rates of 866 Mbps on 5 GHz low band (Channels 36-48) and 400 Mbps on 2.4 GHz.

The dedicated 4x4 backhaul radio uses the 5 GHz high band (Channels 148-161) at a maximum 1733 Mbps link rate. Wired interfaces on each node includes four GbE (three LAN and one WAN) ports and one USB 2.0 port.

Other features include MU-MIMO, Amazon Alexa and seamless roaming support, guest SSID and automatic updates. Management is via iOS or Android app. The company did not say whether the system can be expanded by adding additional nodes.

Zyxel’s Multy X system is available now at authorized dealers for $299.99.
