Ok got v6 to work on the new build. It's strange I normally always do a factory reset before upgrading firmwares and this time was no different but that seems to be what was causing the problem. I reverted back to 38-2em and then upgraded back to 39-0em with no factory reset and now all is well. Merlin any idea why this would happen? I was ready to get the 12 gauge out trying to get this to work.. :). Zoom 5341J here also.

I might be missing something but I can get OpenDNS and Yandex to work ok but Norton just does not block anything. Anyone got Norton working?

Cheers

Is there a possibility your ISP is tinkering with IPv6 in your area? Some area of Comcast or is it all area has not deployed IPv6 formally?

Thanks but no I have had native v6 here for well over a year and the 38-em and 39-em were the only two firmwares I ever had any issue with it. All seems well now just strange if I factory reset and upload 39-em v6 won't work but upgrading from 38-em to 39-em with NO factory reset woks every time. Thanks to all that replied.

I think you are confused on when to perform a factory reset. Most people reset to defaults "after" they flash the new firmware.

First of all this new release .39 has been working flawlessly. Great work!

But unfortunately I am still not able to fix my client status list issue that is caused by my pc running windows home server 2011.

see this post

http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showpost.php?p=96128&postcount=73

I have booted this pc in a different os and the client list will refresh properly (so I can assume its not hardware related). It has something to do with windows home server 2011. I have yet to figure it out but it does work normally with asus firmware.

Getting closer but still stumped.

I agree i just normally do it because i figure it cant hurt to start fresh with a new firmware and certainly never had this kinda issue before. And i did reset again after the upload with the same result no v6 working. Hey all is well now and the firmware seems to be running good now if v6 stays working that was the problem i had with the 38 builds.

Can somebody explain ?
From first page:
Asuswrt-Merlin 374.39 is now available for all routers, except for the RT-N16U (there's no newer fixed GPL code for that model yet).

What would be the best way to test it?

Edit:
Well, I typed "porn" using Google and indeed nothing is stopped by Norton.
I now switched to Yandex Family and the first few hits on Google are stopped. Great!

So, Norton doesn't work here as well.

Thanks Merlin

Just installed this firware and the parental controls through Norton are very nice to keep my 10 and 12 year old inline. Doesn't stop everything but better than wide open, thanks for all your help and a donation was sent about 25 minutes ago.

Also, my AC-RT66R seems faster than previous builds so thanks !

Thanks Curado Kev

On 38_2em it worked fine but after a day or 2 it would lose the address and a reboot was required to optain the address again I was hoping this build would have fixed that [...]

There haven't been any changes between .38 and .39 that would make a difference on that issue. I can say it shouldn't be happening in the first place. I'm on Comcast and currently have an uptime of over a week with no issue. What do you mean by "lose the address"? The prefix? The WAN addresss? If it happens again, it would possibly help to see what is in your syslog.

Did you test it?
If yes, how?

I just noticed Merlin 374.39 has the same bug as Asus' beta firmware, where the USB icon is in active green status even though no USB device is connected to the router.

+1
Same here.

Thanks RMerlin

Parental controls are excellent, well worth the wait, donation sent!

RT-N66U early model that needed to boot update.

Same experience was with the .38 release.

5 ghz clients which do connect with 372.31 or older versions will not connect IF WPA2 Enabled.

No security, all clients connect.

Talking iPHONE 5 and Broadcom dual mode chipset in laptop.

WPA2 2.4ghz channel works fine for all clients.

Roll back to 372.31, every client connects just fine on all channels with WPA2.

Did full resets and removed wireless accounts on clients and reconnected, re-entered WPA2 key, etc.

Wish it worked of course.

Which level of Norton are you using? I set a computer at "Norton Children" and it is working for me. I don't think it will block searches but what happens when you try to go the site?

Cheers!

First let me say i have had NO issues with ipv6 until the 38 build as stated. When i flashed the 38_1em and 38_2em builds my v6 was fine for a day or two then the router would lose its v6 address confirmed by checking the router ui ipv6 tab the address was gone a reboot would set things right again only to have the same thing a day or two later.

Reverting back to 374_35_4-sdk5 and v6 was working great again no loss of address ever. I was hoping and still am that this build 39_0-em would fix this issue, you say it might not i guess in a day or so i will know for sure.

I dont use my router for more then routing no usb no vpn ect.. I am very framiliar flashing firmware and i know how to set up v6 so this is not a novice issue here rather a real problem i have had with these latest builds on my RT-N66U. Any advice you have would be great. Wanted to add the system log says nothing when this happens and the public ip is what it loses.

DNSCrypt Please

Merlin I love your firmware :p My only request is that you have an option for DNSCrypt without having to do all that confusing Entware stuff. Thanks
