Assuming you are doing factory resets here, as I am sure you are, there are really only 2 options here - the resets are not working for some reason or there is some hardware variation that does not like the new firmware. For most this firmware is very stable and very reliable.

It is weird that 3 people now seem to have trouble straight after reset, but many months back I too had very strange results with firmware that was otherwise considered good. I thought this was all in the past, but maybe I've just been lucky. This router does seem to sometimes get itself in a mess that can be hard to reset from, regardless of firmware version.

Thanks Jong. Not that it should matter but I picked up a newegg refurbished. Wonder if there is some hardware variation like you mentioned.

My version is from retail as soon as it was released. I've tried multiple factory resets and reflashes. After a period of time (there doesnt seem to be any other reason why) I can no longer access the config page. The router still works, I can get to websites, just not the setup page anymore (tried in chrome/edge/ff).

Although I've suggested it to one other who said it did not work, I would still suggest doing 2 full resets (I like the WPS method, but I know others have their own favorite!), one before upgrading and one just after - reset, then upgrade, then reset again, then setup manually from scratch. But, you've probably done all that :(.

Yep I've tried that, flash and reflash, downloaded the firmware 3 times now. Just rolling back to merlins.

For me its not right after reset, I can get into it immediately after. After maybe 5-10 minutes I can no longer access it. Everything continues to work, just cant access the config anymore, it just loads a white screen.

Agreed. After making a change and it refreshes I can no longer access the config. Wifi/hard wired appears to still work.

I not performer a reset, after flash new firmware and not problem here to access the config. One idea is that the problem did not appear to be installed Merlin firmware? And I know it was uninstalled before the official Merlin.

I'll probably jump for it tomorrow and do hard reset and fresh configuration. Maybe that will help with our HP Printer disconnection problem?

I'm not sure if this would solve our problem. This same problem with the same printer, as happened with the ASUS RT-66U AC. But let's hope it works. Tell me later. Good luck.

Well, the printer disconnected. I'm trying something that seemed to help before of Xbox assistance on 2.4 as well as disabling NAT acceleration.

I believe ASUS know the problem but not fix this.

Well that's nice to know, that helps because my superstitious actions did not fix the problem. I gotta say, the GUI is smoother and fancier now though. We'll see how performance goes

Hi mucci, while those are posted there, I didn't see that Asus acknowledged any issues

In my case my 2 HP printers are working without problem on 2.4g band (photosmart 209a & laserjet 1102w)

Interesting, are there any settings that you use? Any tips that you can offer? I have to restart my router every day to hope to keep the printer in communication as well as I've gotten to the point of restating the router everytime before I need to print or scan

Well, I did not say that ASUS know, I said that "I believe ...", since it is an official forum ASUS, and it is likely that it has been notified.

Your printers there are a native wifi, my printer is only use USB port, like Allograft printer, is the same one. Your printer is connect direct to wifi, both, HP officejet 4500 is connected to ASUS RT-AC 87R USB port. I believe is completely different.
