As for the 5GHz radio, try lowering the channel.

My LAN adapter in my TV will not connect on the triple channels of the 5GHz radio but will on channel 36.

Thanks for the information I will give that a try, the router is behaving now again, but I can't understand what is happening, what could cause the router to become really slow only on 2.4ghz and constantly disconnect. Putting my spare router on the same channel showed no problems. Really weird

I have issued with the 5 GHz band on my AC66U , as you did not write which
Asus router you have I hope this will help you anaway. I can get disconnects on pc:s connected to the 5 GHz band and if I have inSSider up I can see a sudden drop of signal strength of -20 dBm. I am waiting for the new Broadcom drivers whisch Asus has said eill come before the end of 2012. Perhaps this will solve the problem. Jeremy at Asus has been informed about this also.

I'm not sure if I should RMA my router or not, I've flashed to this version today as I have been having problems where my PC Internet connection is fine but wifi on iPads and iPhones is constantly disconnecting. I have reset the NVRam and left the router off for a few hours and haven't had a disconnect yet. This is the third spell of this behaviour the router has had since I bought it in October.

I have 2.4 ghz set to 20mh only with the interference setting off and the power left at 80mw. I have 5ghz set to 40mhz only and N, I have had problems where my Apple TV won't connect to 5ghz for some reason also. Am I encountering router bugs surely if this was faulty it would just stop working. The problem with the wifi can happen between firmwares and reboots when it occurs I just don't get it.

Also browsing on wifi will crawl when this happens or time out altogether

Try disabling Enhanced Interference Management on the Wireless -> Professional page (that only applies to the 2.4 GHz).

I don't remember the details but wasn't there some kind of issue with the APSD variable? With it enabled there were connectivity issues?

Thanks for the replies guys, I will keep this router around and hopefully in the future it will be more stable for me :)

Issue with the Tool Wake on lan page

I was in the wake on lan page and was adding my pcs. I hit apply and I thought the page finish. I try going back into it and for some reason the page does not display the full page. I try rebooting the router and still same screen. All the other tabs inside of Tool is fine, but wake on lan page got screwed up. I then try accessing the page on my ipad and other pc and still the page is cut off. How do I get the page back?

System Log when trying to access the Wake on Lan tab.

The two are unrelated.

Chances are your wol_list got corrupted at some point (early versions would occasionally insert HTML tags into entries). You can clear the whole list of WOL targets by running these commands on the Run Cmd page:

nvram set wol_list=""
nvram commit

Also make sure not to use any invalid charaters in the WOL target names (for example don't use any quote). Only use alphanumericals, and either "_" or "-".

Thanks you very much. that did it! Thats weird my two target names in WOL was Server and Win7 and this was on Chrome. I added this two pc name last weekend and no issue.

If it happens again, open the Javascript error console in Chrome (hit F12), then check what error you are getting when you reload the page. Clicking on the link to the right will show you the code where the error occurs - that should give an indication as to what is breaking the JS code.

"kernel: nf_ct_ras: decoding error: out of bound" error log, should I be concern about this and what does it mean?

No clue. This is probably a conntrack helper module that tried to handle a packet that wasn't meant for it. Just ignore it.

Does anyone else have a problem on wifi where you are connected fine with full bars but the Internet becomes unresponsive for maybe 10-20 seconds even though you are also still connected to the Internet? This maybe also occurs on Ethernet but I spent most time on wifi.

Yes, I noticed that on my 5GHz too. Exactly the same problem.

I have stabilised now but I'm running a continued ping test to see if it happens again on my ipad if I get any packet loss on the ping.

I had this issue when I had my old RT66. On 2.4ghz device the page will take forever to load, but on 5ghz on the same websites it was fine. My ipad was on 5ghz and I then connected to 2.4ghz and started having the same issue. I have my new RT66 and over the past two days no issue whatsoever. Both were on 3.0.0.4.260.21 firmware.

Im having similar issues on the 2.4ghz band, while 5ghz is working fine with merlins latest firmware. Im going to reset the router and re configure...if not, looks like i need to rma?

Just curious and this would be way out there, are the LAN and 2.4 ghz MAC addresses the same on the "new" one?

Just did the upgrade from 3.0.0.4.260.20 to .21 without any issues. Took the hint to reboot the router before the upgrade, which made sense to clear out any memory leak issues before the upgrade.

So far, so good. It even seems like I'm getting slightly better speeds under .21 than I was under .20, though it might just be a coincidence.
