    Asus RT-N66u security and WPS

If WPS is disabled, you're fine. If you leave it enabled, you probably fine. The stock firmware most likely has lockouts of some kind implemented.

Please help me choose a 50$ wifi router ^^

The TP-LINK you listed is the next best thing. I've had great results with TP-LINK routers personally.

Haven't bought a router in 10 years and now it's time! Which of these would you buy?

The $52 TP-Link WR1043ND is a favorite by many on the dd-wrt forums. Firmware choices are also a bit vast compared to the others(openwrt, dd-wrt, gargoyle, maybe others).

    The Future of router SOCs

What's wrong with openwrt? I hope everyone goes ARM since even though these are supposed to be routers, many people(including myself) are not using them just to route but to have a whole bunch of functionality. 300MHz Broadcom chips will not cut it.

    ASUS RT-N56U beta firmware

IIRC bufferbloat is an effect that occurs when uploading at max speed where your download speed goes down and ping times go up. Simple solution, use a bandwidth limiter. fq_codel will help in the case where you're uploading at max speed but that's about all it will do.

Which wireless adapter should I buy to gain advantage of N66U

That particular motherboard is designed for AMD CPUs that have built-in GPUs. You could add an extension card but there's close to no point. Stick with USB. It's got a long life to live.

    Problem with new internet

no The WRT54G is useful up to ~27mbps. For smaller than that, it's fine.

Which wireless adapter should I buy to gain advantage of N66U

There are many PCI-E wireless adapters. Note that most or all of them are PCI-E x1. Even though that motherboard has a full x16 slot, it should still fit. PCI-E x16 is designed to be compatible with smaller sizes(but not vice versa). So the adapter that you linked to in your original post...

New Asus RT-N65U Dualband Wireless N750 Gigabit Router

I guess now you can actually make a case for Monster cables actually making a difference :P

Why no USB 3.0 for the RT-AC66U?

The interference can mostly be mitigated by using shielding on the cables or covering the cables with aluminum foil. Ugly but it works at least according to one forum member: http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showpost.php?p=60301&postcount=50

Does alternative firmware break your router?

It's an implementation made by Broadcom. It's really buggy. And apparently has a vulnerability: http://blog.defensecode.com/2013/02/defensecode-security-advisory-cisco.html As far as I can tell, dd-wrt is still vulnerable. I also would have liked to see OpenWRT as the firmware has a newer...

Uverse 2wire gateway and asus rt-ac66u configuration

Won't work. AT&T U-Verse is either VDSL2 based or IPDSLAM(ADSL2+) based. They got rid of their ATM equipment and now send an IP address to the router through DHCP. They also use 802.1x authentication to limit the amount of 3rd party equipment. That being said, it is possible to bridge the...

New Asus RT-N65U Dualband Wireless N750 Gigabit Router

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030310&p_id=6509&seq=1&format=2 I asked product support to check if they have any shielding on it. They said they have an aluminum foil wrapped around the cable inside. If that cable is not long enough, they also sell...
