    Log devices disconnecting?

Hi, I know the client list and system log shows dhcp-requests etc, in other words when a device, be it a mobile, pc/laptop, tab/pad etc connects, but how can I log when a device disconnects? Is there any sh command or script I can create/use to do that for me (with timestamps) ? So that I can...

    How to change WAN MAC?

What IP is port-scanning you? Is it outside the ISP? Is someone trying to DDOS-attack you? Can't the ISP set up a rule for it in their firewall? Or you in your firewall?, or send a fake "closed" packet on open ports or simply not answer them (its called stealth-mode i think, or...

    HELP needed: PPTP with client-to-client

bumping this (sorry). Basically short story (I wrote a bit much in first post): A: Will messing with ip / iptables be permanent / write itself to config-files somewhere or nvram, or can I safely experiment with it? (meaning if i want it "permanent" ill have to put it in some start scripts e.g...

    Merlin FW and VPN

Yes, possible (I dont know exactly how, but it involves setting iptables), but you're posting in the wrong sub-forum, you should post it here to get your answer: http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/forumdisplay.php?f=42

    Asus RT N66U weekly reset

Ok, lets go through a list here, because this doesn't necessarily have to do with the wifi itself. 1: Check USB-applications -> Servers Center: and check the four servers if any of them are running: Media server, Samba, NFS and FTP. 2: Check if you have Smart-QoS running (under Traffic...

    Asus RT N66U weekly reset

Are you using the inbuilt mediaserver (minidlna) ?

Two Issues with _5 on N66R

Glad to be of service. I really like samba better too, it doesnt depend on databases and you can set security/password, while DLNA is just a plain "dumb" protocol, with no security/parent control and bases itself on database-structures / constant updating. On the other hand, if you plan on...

RT-N66U - Problems with DLNA and jpgs

    1. Disable the inbuilt mediaserver/minidlna 2. Install/use the entware version instead (opkg install minidlna), if you dont have entware installed, then install entware first, then install minidlna entware-version. There are many threads on this sub-forum on installing entware and minidlna, I...

Two Issues with _5 on N66R

Let me guess, you're using the inbuilt mediaserver? (minidlna?), that will go bonkers on transmission and USB-HDD activity and rise either itself or the other conflicting proccess to 100%. Try to open ssh and run "top" to see whats going on with what in realtime. If using minidlna, try...

    Drive not unmounted

My USB HDD does that every now and then even though the HDD shows to be dandy and fine when I run e2fschk -f on it. I think it might be that the boot-up/mount-process tries to scan it too quickly, or has a timeout which is too low when waiting for the disk. Maybe there's some sort of NVRAM or...

DHCPNAK reporting "wrong network" sometimes? What is it?

Well, that solves that mystery my friend. It so happens to be that all the devices (mac-addresses) in the list are android devices, namely phones, in which connect to... wait for it... waaaaaait for it... my work/office, and then I get home, one thing leads to another and bada bing, the rest is...

DHCPNAK reporting "wrong network" sometimes? What is it?

What does this mean? I have some VPN on at times, but they do not use 192.168.*.* and my LAN uses 10.0.*.* Jan 19 16:19:34 dnsmasq-dhcp[839]: DHCPNAK(br0) 192.168.1.43 *macaddress* wrong network Jan 19 16:20:04 dnsmasq-dhcp[839]: DHCPNAK(br0) 192.168.1.73 *macaddress* wrong network Jan 19...

RT-AC66u reboots under heavy load scenario

What you're actually doing here is two actions and using double bandwidth: A: File transfer internet-> (using inet bandwidth) -> router-> (using LAN/eth/wifi bandwidth) -> laptop while youre also simultaniously: B: File transfer laptop -> (using even more LAN/eth/wifi bandwidth) ->...

    <testers needed> [TUTORIAL] Minidlna through debian-entware-mipsel

Also set: root_container=B That way you get directly to "Browse Folders", without the Audio/Video/Photos structure where it lists everything. I like to rely on my own sorting/ordering of folders manually, and for that purpose "root_container=B" doest the job, making it basically like browsing...

    HELP needed: PPTP with client-to-client

Hi there. I have sucsessfully set up a plain/normal PPTP-server from the GUI with ease, same goes for OPENVPN, and in OPENVPN theres the option for "client-to-client" communication, allowing two computers connected to the VPN server to communicate with eachother. My scenario is basically...

    What is dual core ?

..so N66U is a dual-core mipsel, and AC66U is single core arm?

RT-AC66u reboots under heavy load scenario

Have you tried disabling Download Master. I would install entware and run transmission instead, or the equivelent for arm (if AC66u is arm?). 11000KBs = roughly 10.7MBs = which is roughly 85Mbits speed, meaning you're getting good speed, and probarbly bottling up the LAN>WAN or hanging the...

    Dual instances of Minidlna possible?

Thanks for the info nairn, maybe you could post/upload your compilation. I suspect your solution won't work on a N66U though, since the version you have of ReadyMedia(2) is most likely for arm-cpu's, but for all those with arm (most, if not all ACXXXX routers) this would be very usefull.

    Disable / enable aicloud sync-jobs from shell/ssh/telnet/script?

Thank you for the information. I read your excellent tutorial on rsync two days ago. I think its not that I don't have the knowledge to set it up, but more a matter of - knowing myself - patience and time. I will read the tutorial once more, this time more carefully, to decide if it's...

Help needed: Enabling WINS and force-master-browser via script/SSH

I will try just master browser force first and see how if that solves my problem, if not then I'll play with WINS as a last resort. Again, thank you for the enlightenment.
