ok first of all im using R7000 with Xwrt vortex

however im doubting this is xvortex issue and assuming its an issue stemming from asus-wrt or merlin-wrt

basically im trying to port forward ports to my R7000 so that it appears im connecting over WAN

i forwared 8443 to 8443 also tried 80 for http so basically all requests on the R7000 should seem like they are coming from WAN ( this works for my WEB6000Q extender i have with no special settings just forward 8344 to 80 ( also tried forwarding 8443 to 80 with R7000, same settings no luck)

i dunno whats going on here, i can vpn into my network and connect to router, but i wanna be able to connect to R7000 from outside the network without vpn and its just AP but in router mode so i can see wireless traffic monitors

i thought this was on my ERX something fracked up but im 100% sure its not and im starting to think this is a bug

no i use xwrt merlin issue, i think the same issue will exist in merlin firmware, as i think the issue comes from merlin firmware

Using a port of a port from another brand of router (and possibly hardware at the lowest levels) is more than likely not an issue of the original port.

Did you ask XVortex?

no i have not asked.

its hardly a port of a port

its almost identicle hardware
on difference is old RT-AC68U dont have bcm4909 now all new ones do so essentially the same

should behave as merlin behaves on RT-AC68U v2

there is very clearly some kind of issue with coming from an outside ip address or coming from my ERX ( 192.168.1.1)

the port forwarding should make it so the R7000 things 192.168.1.1 is connecting to it

it shouldnt even see the outside address

i know i can connect from every other device to the router, via local network or VPN into local network

so it could be blocking 192.168.1.1 for who knows why

it could be looking at source port and not liking it........... (HIGHLY doubt it)

i have no idea

such a odd issue

ontop of http and https not working telnet and ssh refuse to work aswell wtf is this

they work from local just not working when i try coming in from LTE

DD-WRT and tomato both have no problem working when i do this with the EXACT same config so i know its the merlin wrt causing the problem

im starting to think this is being caused by the login page coming in on a different port or requiring 2 or more ports open

Well, the problem is non existent on my Asus AC68. The Netgear uses completely different drivers/closed source parts (from Netgear). So your assumption that your Netgear equals an AC68 with Merlin firmware because they have the same hardware is a completely wrong one.

the problem is non existent? what are you using as your main router

what are you using http or https or both

which port

do you have enable web access from wan checked? it should not have to be....

either you are using RT-AC68U as your main router or your main router doesnt have very strict firewall like mine...

i suspect the issue is this silly login page

Why do you even need port forward on your "Merlin" router in this case...?

so if something happens when im not at home i can fix it

on another note the address i am trying to connec to is

https://162.156.173.3X:8181

my edgerouterX forwards 8181 to 192.168.1.3:8443

if i connect to LAN via wifi and type in

https://162.156.173.3X:8181 THEN IT WORKS

this means my edgerouter is properly forwarding the address but that something other then 8181 needs to be opened on my firewall wtf

Ok...after re-read ur post a few times, I see what you re trying to do..

The culprit could be ur LTE service. If u port forward 8181 to a service on er-X, does it work?

Yes 8181 works for erx

I am 100% positive the issue is in the firmware only thing that changed was firmware and i lost it

Its not either merlin firmware is causing it or the xwrt fork is, it woundltnt make alot of sense anything changed from merlin wrt to xwrt fork

First time back on merlin in a while

Liking everything except this and a ip traffic bug i posted in xwrt for 7000 thead on linksys info

are you running the Merlin router in AP mode as per the firmware or router mode but you customise it acting more like an AP?

what do you have in the iptables on your Merlin router?

router mode customized like an ap because AP mode lost the bandwidth monitors and i want to monitor my radios and which IPs are using them

technically i dont even think i have a default gateway entered....

Looks promising to a solution. I bet one of iptables rules is trying to protect its end-users..

what do you mean?

it would just be nice if i could set a default gateway and some static dns.... maybe its just these missing basic settings causing the issue
