New Around Here
Looking for what is the best desktop WiFi adapter, moving into a new townhouse and the extra bedrooms (where my office will be) does not have and network/cable outlets, so everything is going WiFi. My router is a ASUS RT-AC87U running Merlin FW, would rather internal (PCIe) but external is fine if the performance is there, would like to keep it under $200.

Most uses are gaming (so response time and stability is a big thing) and streaming from my home server, signal will be passing through one wall, distance of about 15-20ft, no way around the wall for direct line of sight.

Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H.

ASUS USB-AC55, ASUS PCE-AC68, or powerlines ZyXEL PLA-5256 Twin-pack would do the work.

Yes but is it out for sale yeat?
And cost more then 2x more than the AC-68 but sure is money is no problem wath the hell go for it!
But still no drivers for windows 10 :(

I have seen both the ASUS, but can't seem much in actual reviews, I don't trust NE or Amazon reviews at all, and nothing really talks about latency. I looked at powerline but they still have really REALLY mixed reviews on performance and stability, not to mention I have no idea of layout of the new townhomes wiring.

I have the Asus PCE-AC68 and a Asus RT-AC68U it works on my desktop with win7 BUT as L&LD said.
If you want this new adaptor to last through several future routers as needed when you upgrade, the choice is yours.

What is your latency from adapter to router?

I had someone else suggest using my old RT-N66U for now in client mode and see how it works until I get something else. Which I will probably do, will also let me test how bad the signal degrades before I go and buy something as well.
