Entware questions

Hello
I got DNScrypt running by script and not from entware. thanks to everybody that made the possible.
But when I tested entware I liked the transmission and possible rtorrent for now but I dont want to have a USB HDD 24/7 on the router.

1) If I install entware, can I have the disk unplugged and just plug it in when I need transmission or rtorrent?
2) I,m I gonna get errors or the router will not work with the HDD plugged in 24/7.

I only plug in the HDD when Im going to download a torrent, , If I would have installed dnscrypt on entware I know I would have needed the disk 24/7.

Any other advantage? thanks
