Hi,
Synology DSM contains:Zimage (kernel),rd.gz (ram disk), hda1.tgz (partition image), what do you think, it's possible to install DSM from x86 Atom based Synology box on third-party hardware ? (for example itx Atom mainboard)
If yes, how to do it ?

I've heared other stories about installing other OS on a Synology x86 Atom unit, but not installing the Synology OS on another set of hardware

I suppose the only way to find out is to install it as normal on a Synology Unit and then put the disks in to a PC and see if it works

It also depends on whether Synology use hardware or software Raid on their systems
If hardware Raid is used, I would say No

Perhaps someone else can answer this question

Their software and OS are open source on their site, if I were smart enough I'd try, but I doubt it to be easy...
