Synology availability?

I just went to Amazon.com to buy a DS1517+ and there really isn't much available at the moment compared to a few months ago - 3 sellers, all used or extremely overpriced in comparison to the list; I used to see new ones for <$700 and now the cheapest new one is going for almost $1000.

Is this an issue just with Amazon or are these things drying up?

Okay, I am a bit dense. I didn't know that the DS1817+ was discontinued. I now how to talk "The Boss" (AKA the wife) into allowing me to buy a different model of Synology. She is intelligent enough to know think that a different model # might mean I am trying to pull a fast one.
