In the latest firmware (and probably for some time before that), when there is new firmware available and you go to the dialog to view the release notes, there is a button to open a tab directly to the download site. On the AX-3000, this attempts to open this URL...
I just upgraded an RT-AC3200 from 384.6 to 384.9 (first available in quite a while for the 3200...). I immediately started having the problem described here. I've turned off network monitoring and will see whether that allows the WAN connection to stay up for more than a few hours.
Thanks! Clearing the JFFS and letting it repopulate seems to have done the trick. (Did have to manually SCP some of the other JFFS stuff like openvpn config back to the partition, but I was prepared, it was fine.)

Thanks, that helps me understand the policy based rules, but I think I had it set up correctly and was still not getting any traffic received at the azure end that originated from the local end other than ping replies. Still looking for more help . :-)
