    Router temperatures

Any idea what size the stock thermalpads on the wifi chips on the AC86U?

    Router temperatures

My AC86U got a temperature rise of 6-10c after connecting my NAS to it. I have a fan blowing air at the back, before i connected the NAS temperatures was 72-74c now they are 79-84c. Still better than 100c without the fan but yeah.. Gotta try that copper shim and thermalpad mod soon..

    Router temperatures

Okay, I've ordered this 1.5mm and 2mm copper plates and this 1.5mm Thermalpads. Did you use some on the wifi chips too or that is not necessary?

    Router temperatures

That's is very good without any fan. What kind of copper and thermalpad thickness did you use? Will this 1.5mm Copper do the trick? I have some Arctic 1.5mm pads laying around.. I might try do the same since my AC86U is out of warranty. What size of copper did you use?

    Router temperatures

I live in an high temperatures area at summer so my AC86U easily was running at 97-103c constantly. What i did is i bought a cheap 120mm AliExpress 5V USB Fan, just pointed it blowing air at the back at the router. now i get 72-74c at 27-28c ambient temperatures with 17 devices connected. I...

    AC86au + Merlin

*Edit* I connected my NAS to the first LAN port and now temps are around 78-84c. Of course. I'm dusting every week. Now without AC turned on at night room temperature is about 27-28c and the router temperature is between 72-74c with 17 devices connected. This cheap AliExpress fan solved the...

    AC86au + Merlin

Ok I've received a cheap 5V fan from AliExpress, just put it blowing air at the back of the router and this is the temperatures right now: Room temperature about 24c with AC turned on. Unfortunately I'm running the fan on router's USB 2.0 as i didn't receive yet the extender to connect it to...

    AC86au + Merlin

Yeah just found it. I've gone through the thread, the easiest is to just point a fan on it or mount one. I'll try that when I'll get some USB Fan and will report the results. Thanks

    AC86au + Merlin

Dang you're right... CPU shows at 101c... Didn't think it's going to be that bad. Guess i have no option and try to stick some USB powered fans on the back of it or something as i can't do much other than that because i live in an area that ambient temperature can go up to 35c, sometimes even...

    AX56u/58u or AC86U?

Yeah i know but when i saw a second hand AC68U for 60$ barely used i think it was a good deal. Gotta say it runs pretty solid and wifi coverage is better than their Netgear (R7000P) one that died quickly and had some stability issues. Even tho the Netgear specs are a bit better but overall...

    AC86au + Merlin

Been running Merlin on my AC86U for almost a year now. Pretty solid. Just seen it shows on the settings page that only 1 core available, as i know AC86U have a dual core processor. Am i missing something or the other core is for some specific thing? Never really paid attention but now i did and...
