    RT-AX86U 2.4GHz radio fails

I applied all of the settings highlighted in the Asus FAQ, the same day you posted this suggestion. Today, the failure occurred again.

    RT-AX86U 2.4GHz radio fails

My router has latest firmware 3.0.0.4.388_24231-gbc11d13 . It supports a mix of 2.4GHz and 5GHz clients, and it is also the "master" to another AX-RT86U acting as a wireless bridge. The 2.4 GHz clients lose connectivity repeatedly. The frequency of these events is variable, days to weeks apart...

    3.0.0.4.388_21709-g74151b7 for RT-AX86?

Today I accessed the user interface of my RT-AX86 router, and I find that firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_21709-g74151b7 is available for upload. I did not request beta firmware. I do not see this version featured at Asus web page...

    Firmware Version 3.0.0.4.386.49447 on RT-AX86U

This firmware is now available on the Asus web pile. Has anyone tested it on an RT-AX router? I am most interested in stability on RT-AX86U. I have two of those.

    syslog client needs a push

I have two RT-AX86U routers at home and both of them are configured to log events to a remote server. I specify the server by numeric IP address, and I specify the default port 514. Remote logging does not occur. If I use the router configuration web page tab System Log and press the Apply...

Review New In the Charts: ASUS RT-AX86U

I am getting great performance and reliability with my two RT-AX86U routers. Apart from that, I really appreciate the small physical footprint. Vertical for the win!

remote syslog: host address must be numeric.

Well Colin, this just got interesting. I did as you asked and I see that my router is actually using DNS server 1.1.1.1. So I was wrong. And nslookup could not resolve the FQDN: Server: 1.1.1.1 Address 1: 1.1.1.1 one.one.one.one nslookup: can't resolve '... I still don't understand this. My...

remote syslog: host address must be numeric.

Correct. I am using the official AsusWRT firmware. If I were to switch to Merlin, the only benefit to me would be this little problem right here. How would you compare the reliability of Merlin vs official firmware?

remote syslog: host address must be numeric.

Hello Colin, Not sure about your theory. My upstream DNS server is actually my rsyslog server. I just verified that I can ssh in to the server from itself, using its FQDN. So as far as I can tell, I have configured DNS on my server OK. I used the "Network tools" feature of my Asus router to...

remote syslog: host address must be numeric.

I have two RT-AX86U with latest firmware. I find that the remote logging server address must be numeric, ie 100.200.300.400. It cannot be a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) such as loghost.mynetwork.com. I can accept that, but where Asus falls down is that no feedback is provided to the user...

RT-AX68U as wireless media bridge, 5 GHz.

I have an RT-AX86U that I am using as my main router. I also have an RT-AC68P, with merlin firmware installed. I am using the latter as a wireless media bridge. This mostly works, but I cannot get the two devices to talk to each other on a 5 GHz channel. Before I pay up for a second RT-AX86U...

RT-AX86U as media bridge at 5GHz

I have a RT-AX86U as my main router. I have an older Asus router that I have configured as a wireless media bridge. The two devices are working on a 2 GHz WiFi link. I cannot get the two to communicate at 5GHz. Possibly, the RT-AX86U is using new channels that the old router does not support...

Media bridge mode at 5 GHz

Hello L&LD, If you are suggesting that I factory-reset my router, I did that many times. I mean, I held down the reset button for 10 seconds.

Media bridge mode at 5 GHz

Summary: I cannot get media bridge working on a 5 GHz WiFi network. 2.4 GHz is OK. Media bridge is RT-AC68P with Merlin firmware 384.19 and 386.1. Problem exists in both firmwares. Upstream router is RT-AX86U with Asus firmware connected (wired) to a cable modem. I have tried two different 5...
