    Router temperatures

No such plans, the A86U will most likely go into a 2nd hand market

    Router temperatures

Disabling 5GHz finally lowered the temperatures from 94 Celsius to 84 in average. Still not ideal, just ordered a new dedicated firewall hardware as I am fed up with tweaking things constantly.

    Router temperatures

Just read this thread, all the 24 pages as I recently upgraded to 386.3_2. I was happy that everything worked out well, until I noticed the 92-93C temperature of the CPU, while the machine was idling. I tried the pwr config -eee on "hack" but it literally did not change anything, except now I...

Solved VLAN VID detection on router

OK, at the end I figured it out. In the IPTV section one needs to disable everything and set it to "None". In the terminal through ssh one can catch vlan packets with the following command, sharing it for those looking for a solution: tcpdump -n -e -l -U -vv -ttt -i any | grep "vlan"

Solved VLAN VID detection on router

I am a user of RT-AC86U where LAN4 port is connected to my set-top-box of my ISP's IPTV. They made some change recently to the IPTV service, and I remember that years ago I was able to get the iptv vlan tag id by connecting a computer directly to their cable (no router involved) and checking in...

    Upgrade from 384.19 to 386.1_2

Apologies for the noob question but I could not find this info on the website, nor in the chat and I came to this update with some delay. The question: Is it fine to just dirty flash the new firmware 386.1_2 on top of 384.19, or one needs to factory reset the whole router when upgrading? I know...

Upgrade from 384.16 to 384.17 OpenVPN error on RT-AC86U

It is the server, and no, it was not running at all. Tried to re-enable it but to no avail. Rolling back to 384.16 addressed the issue.

Upgrade from 384.16 to 384.17 OpenVPN error on RT-AC86U

Just a quick report, I remotely dirty flashed 384.17 on 384.16 and the OpenVPN stopped worked. In the system logs it was throwing fatal errors and never-ending "Export OpenVPN configuration file" was running. I reverted back to 384.16 and the OpenVPN works again. Could you please have a look at...

    SSH port 22 remains open

Sorry, apologies, it was my mistake. Only 1 port is open, the issue was with the app Termius which was not functioning properly and it showed as if would have reached the router. Apologies for the false alarm.

    SSH port 22 remains open

I changes the port in Administration > System > SSH port to a different one from the default. However, PuTTY is still able to connect to that port and log in to the terminal. I am using Model RT-AC86U Firmware Version 384.13
