It just seems other vendors have finally caught up to ASUS and now maybe ASUS is starting to slack off. I still think their firmware features are top notch...that is if they work :p
Lots of choices nowadays. It used to just be ASUS in my mind if you wanted router that didn't completely suck.
Meh my X10 is faster, better coverage, and lower pings than the GT was. I do hate the firmware on the crapgear though. I think I will stay with x10 till verdict is out on the 9600 coming out. GT didn't seem stable yet, but I am sure they will iron out whatever was going on in the firmware.
Mines fine from Best Buy so far. My "regular" non ROG AC5300 had its 2.4ghz band drop out then the 5ghz-1 after it got sent back from ASUS. They then sent me a new 5300, but sold that and got this.
Anyhoo, I'm not too thrilled about the sporatic speedtests I am getting vs. my previous routers...
Yes, mine was night and day 5300 hands down better at everything. I may have got a bad unit with the 88u because it disconnected a lot and the range was bad. This was also way back when the 88u just came out. Just my experience. Could be different elsewhere
Yeah looks like the bug where the admin console at 192.168.1.1 will take forever to load for some reason. I remember a bug like this on ac88 but was fixed in later firmware.
My vote is 5300 only because the 88 I had something was wrong with it and I returned it. It probably got beat up on shipping since everyone else seems to like their 88.
I was wondering what settings I need to do on my AC5300 to keep the overclock settings to stick?
I telnet command the following:
nvram set clkfreq=1600,800
nvram commit
Then when I reboot no matter what it goes back to 1400,800. Any suggestions to get it to stick?
Thanks
