AC-BE86U AIMesh poor performance back-haul link to RT-AC86U

BE86U running 3006.102.5 connected to a AC86U 3004.386.14_2 using AIMesh and 5Ghz as the backhaul. They are situated almost above each other in the top bedroom (top of stairs) and my office (bottom of stairs office). Everything connected ok but I noticed that even though the backhaul link had...

Unable to access internet through IPSec VPN to home router

I have an RT-AC86u running Merlin 384.13. I’ve setup an IPSec VPN for connecting back to my home whilst abroad, but curiously cant connect to the internet through it for accessing some services which actively block mainstream VPN providers such as surfshark, private internet access etc. I can...

    Alternatives for IPTraffic on AC86u?

Thank you both. Being a new AC86 user, I wasnt aware of how detailed these reports go! I'll have a good look through the data but I'm sure my answers lay in your responses. Thanks again :-)

    Alternatives for IPTraffic on AC86u?

Hi. I've read the wiki and understand IPTraffic is not supported on the AC86u. I would like to know if there are any alternative ways in which I can use my router to help me pinpoint who/what is using all the bandwidth on my network? My problem is that although the Traffic Analyser in my...

RESOLVED: Wifi not disabled in RTN66U even when disabled in config

ohhhhhh ffs I am an idiot. I just discovered that my son had set himself up a powerline wifi in his room, so the network I'm seeing is that receiver and because its connecting back to the router over the ethernet port, I'm able to connect back to it! Damn kids ! ;) Problem solved.

RESOLVED: Wifi not disabled in RTN66U even when disabled in config

I just upgraded to the latest firmware (380.68.2) just to rule out any problems, and can confirm I'm still having the same problem i.e. wireless disabled in the admin panel but still able to see and connect to wifi from other devices. The following images confirm the settings in the router and...

RESOLVED: Wifi not disabled in RTN66U even when disabled in config

Hi, Something strange going on here. I'm running 380.68 on my Asus RTN66U. I've disabled the wireless adapters in the Wireless/Professional panel but am still able to see WiFi on my iPhone! Does anyone have a clue how that can be? Is there a bug in the management panel which doesnt actually...

    RT-N66u WAN throughput question

Thank you for such a quick response. HW NAT Acceleration was indeed disabled due to the fact I had switched on the "Enable IPTraffic (per IP monitoring)" ability. After disabling that and switching on NAT acceleration, speed jumped considerably :- I'll run some more tests at different times...

Small Office Network based on RT-AC66 and RT-N66

From what I remember of network routing, you will need a router capable of LAN to LAN routing if you want to keep two separate subnets 192.168.2.x/192.168.1.x and still allow both networks to see each other. I've never tried it, but in theory you could try attaching an ethernet cable from Room...

    RT-N66u WAN throughput question

Hi, I've been using an RT-N66u with AsusWRT-Merlin build 380.57 for quite a while with no issues. I've recently been upgraded to 200/20 Virgin Internet and using their Hub 3.0 I'm able to achieve 222Mb download when my PC is connected to its hub, as well as when I switch the Hub 3.0 into modem...

    Traffic history data

Yep, all confirmed. This is able to give me the stats and history information I need down to an hourly level. Now all I need is a cron job to stop the rstats service each night at midnight and copy the data off to the USB stick, naming the file with the date/time the file was created. I can...

    Traffic history data

its all looking very good! Each time I create the rstats file (killall -USR1 rstats) I get a snapshot of the previous 24hrs. What I'm trying to work out now though is the position of the data relative to time. For example, I want to select all data between 6pm-9pm. I'm assuming that when the...

    Traffic history data

fantastic! thank you Colin. I dont know how you worked that out tbh. Was it just pure logic or did the source give you an idea?

    Traffic history data

Thanks for the update Colin :) So, if the sample rate is per 30secs, and the value recorded is the bytes/sec at the point of sample, then the total TX amount can only be an average of data sent over the period? if I'm correct, I can't see how I can get a true cumulative figure of data sent...

    Traffic history data

ok, I missed the point you made about the data sample rate being every 2mins. Trying to work out if its a running 24hrs now from the point the router was initialised, or whether it resets to midnight each night. Guess I could grab the current time and then work backwards from that anyway :)
