Wireless backhaul/mesh systems recommendation for friend so I don't have to be tech support in the future

awesome... thanks. Turns out they do have 1200Mbps down, so I'd like to at least set them up with something that might use that, even though they probably don't need it. Is there a tri-band system you'd lean towards? MUCH appreciated!

    Semi-spousal emergency: AC68u died

Need some quick advice. I just left for a 9 day trip, and a few hours after i left, our router seemed to stop working. It may be a power surge, as the satellite was messed up as well, even though my Asus RT-AC68U was on a surge protector. She's tried rebooting... reset... letting it sit. At...

Recommendation on cable modem to replace new xfinity Aris unit they just gave me

Sadly, neither the modem or the ASUS change seemed to help. Have made no other changes to my router... so has to have something to do with a recent sonos update....

Recommendation on cable modem to replace new xfinity Aris unit they just gave me

whatever their higher/est is. regularly get 100+ in download tests. Not too worried about an extra few bucks in cost. Sadly, didn't even realize until today that I've been paying $10/mo. in equipment rental from them.....

Recommendation on cable modem to replace new xfinity Aris unit they just gave me

thanks. I didn't see that and will try it. I'm suspect though, as the problem only recently started, and I hadn't don anything different to the router. the only change was the cable modem. but maybe that is what was incompatible when combined with the Asus.?.?

Recommendation on cable modem to replace new xfinity Aris unit they just gave me

I was having problems with an older cable modem, and xfinity gave me this Aris TG1682G that also has router/wifi built in. I want to still use my ASUS for that, so I have the Aris setup in bridge mode...but things are still wonky (like Sonos) and I think it has to do with this unit. have...

Setting Statis IP vs binding MAC to IP in settings

Thanks... but still a bit confused. would you ever do both, or is 'binding' just a more complete version of assigning a static IP?

Setting Statis IP vs binding MAC to IP in settings

Can't seem to find the answer to this. What's the difference between setting a static IP, vs. binding a MAC to an IP address?

    Slow download speeds through RT-AC68P

Hi all... hope you can help me - i'm only moderately technical when it comes to my router. I have an RT-AC68P with some older firmware (3.0.0.4.380_4164) I never updated past that because everything has worked so well. I have a moderate number of wireless and wired devices, but rarely are...

WAN IP changes after power outage

Pardon if this is an easy question... but on my ASUS router, every now and then after a power outage, my WAN IP changes (i'm with Comcast). this then screws up anything I use from outside with port forwarding. Is this something I can keep static?
